WYDOT maintains an extensive system of highway electrical devices and Casper Electric builds projects for WYDOT statewide. Systems include roadway lighting, high mast lighting, traffic signals, vehicle detection, vehicle count stations, and road closed gates. The WYDOT “ITS systems” include variable speed limit signs (VSL’s), road weather information systems (RWIS), vehicle to vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure devices (V2I), pan tilt zoom (PTZ) video cameras and variable message signs (VMS). WYDOT “communications systems” include point to point wireless radios, communication cabling, network switches, communication towers, and fiber optic cable. Casper Electric has been building and maintaining these systems for WYDOT since 2007.
